Certain versions of WinXP have a bug in IE with how it handles pictures. An extremely simple HTML test page is all it takes for XP to totally crash. Information on the web indicates that the bug is present in WinXP with Service Pack 2. If you want to test it yourself make a webpage with the code that can be found in the article at Heise online. Make sure you have saved all your work and closed all other applications before doing the test!
